How Often Should You Get Your House Cleaned?
Weekly, every two weeks, or monthly? How to pick a cleaning schedule based on your household instead of guessing, and why the wrong interval costs you more.
August 2, 2026
Almost everyone picks their cleaning schedule the same way: they guess, they pick monthly because it sounds reasonable, and then they spend three weeks out of four in a house that does not feel clean.
There is a better way to decide, and it has nothing to do with your budget.
Start with who lives there, not how big it is
Square footage barely matters. What matters is how much life happens in the house.
Every week makes sense if you have kids at home, more than one pet, someone who works from home full time, or you host often. These homes generate mess continuously, and a weekly rhythm means it never accumulates.
Every two weeks is the right answer for most households. Two working adults, maybe one pet, normal life. This is the interval where a home stays genuinely clean without you thinking about it.
Monthly works for a couple who travels, an empty nester, a second home, or someone who is already tidy and just does not want to scrub bathrooms.
One time is for a specific event. Moving in, moving out, before family visits, after a renovation.
The thing nobody tells you about monthly
A monthly clean is not a smaller version of a biweekly clean. It is a harder job.
Four weeks of buildup means soap scum has set, the shower has hard water spots that need actual scrubbing, and the kitchen has grease that has gone tacky. The same crew doing the same rooms takes noticeably longer, because they are removing rather than maintaining.
That is why the price gap between weekly and monthly is much smaller than people expect. You are not paying for frequency. You are paying for the condition of the house when we walk in.
If you have ever thought "I book monthly but it never feels as clean as the first time," that is why.
Signs your interval is wrong
Book more often if:
- You find yourself cleaning before the cleaners come
- The bathrooms look bad within a week of a visit
- You have stopped noticing the mess because it is always there
- You have pets and you are vacuuming between visits anyway
Book less often if:
- The house still looks clean when the next visit comes around
- You are traveling most of the month
- Nothing has really been used since last time
The pattern that actually works
Deep clean once to reset the house, then a standard clean every two weeks to hold it.
The reset matters. Starting a recurring schedule on a house that has never been deep cleaned means every single visit is fighting buildup that was there before you started, and it never fully catches up.
Get it to zero once. Then keeping it at zero is easy and it stays that way.
In South Miami specifically
Humidity changes the math here. Bathrooms and grout hold moisture longer than they do in a dry climate, which means mildew comes back faster and the interval that works in another state is often too long here.
If you have salt air, a pool, or you keep windows open, you will notice the difference between weekly and monthly more than most people do.
